OUR MISSION: SUPPORTING ANANGU
For over 50,000 years, Anangu have been the traditional custodians of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and the central desert region of Australia, with their homelands covering an approximate geographical area of 103,000 square kilometres throughout the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia. Anangu speak numerous languages, including Pitjantjatjara, Yankunytjatjara and Ngaanyatjarra. They continue to pass down their languages, culture and tradition, and welcome the opportunity to share this with visitors to Uluru and across the region.
Anangu, with assistance from philanthropic organisations like the Anangu Communities Foundation, are able to build on their strengths and receive support for projects that improve education and health, as well as economic, social and emotional wellness outcomes. The challenges faced by remote Aboriginal communities in relation to education, health and well-being are well documented.
The Anangu communities rely on external funding to support new initiatives that contribute towards a positive future. Working alongside community stakeholders, Federal, State, and Local governments, Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and other altruistic organisations, Anangu Communities Foundation raises awareness, attracts donations and seeks projects that support Anangu as the primary beneficiary.
